I have a series of articles on the death of the electric organ. Seen and played the last harvest of organs from the new Roland Atelier Roland A-900, 900 to 800 C and I think that this could be the beginning of a comeback.
It ’s just the beginning
I must say that this is just the beginning of a comeback, and in my opinion, there is still much that the organs have to do, produce, especially Roland. I believe that Yamaha is in the right direction with bodies such as the Yamaha D Deck portable body and also the Yamaha Stagea Electone Organ, which is a big body but still portable. Probably the best example of a portable led north C1 Combo Organ, which is best described as a Hammond C3 organ under his arm, yes, it’s light.
Roland What can I do to improve the institutions?
Well first of all let me say that I am a big fan of Roland organs. The sound and playability of these institutions are brilliant and simple, but are too large and too heavy. The Roland 900 Roland Institution C is an attempt to create a laptop for travelers organist. What a joke. The body weighs 224 lbs. Compare this to North C1 Combo Organ, weighs 33 kg, but the Yamaha D Deck, which weigh 39 pounds, and you can see that the Roland 900 C is a very heavy portable. If Roland wants to stay in this new emerging comeback that have to do something for the costs of the institutions. Roland AT900 C retail in the United Kingdom at 13,000 pounds. Compare this to North C1 organ, which cost 1500 pounds and the Yamaha D Deck, while not in the UK, may be imported for about 3,500 pounds.
If you really want a Roland, to buy second hand
Ok, it is not the latest model of second-hand, and if you are very lucky, but the previous models may be excellent for a cheap price compared to the cost of buying new ones.
Roland are obviously with the aim of institutions is on the old generation, who have a little ‘money set aside, and for many years as a good market for body produces, but that is decreasing, which is why Yamaha where we do not sell organs in Western markets. I think Roland has a great opportunity to create a market for all age groups and play an important role in support of the electronic organ comeback.
